Squirrel Stapler is a very short horror game created by David Syzmanski. I was actually testing the Steam release of the game and doing bug testing, when I decided to try and manually fix a bug for the game by editing some of the code in a similar way that modders do to, well, create mods. In addition to fixing the bug, I also made a few mods for the game in an effort to learn how to mod games and to do a little bit of quick and fun dev/design projects.
Endless Mode for Squirrel Stapler was the first mod I ever developed. I wanted to do some Chop Goblins modding, but I wanted to learn the process first so I decided to work with Squirrel Stapler as it seemed simpler to work with.
For how simple the game and the game mode are, I was very happy with how the game mode played. Making the "big squirrel" respawn gave the player a guaranteed goal to get points, and the bear squirrel enemies had a cap on how many could spawn that increased every 30 seconds, with no upper limit. This created a hectic race to get as many kills as possible, which was a refreshing departure from the slow and steady pace of the main game.
